Facebook reaches 500 million users

Yesterday Facebook announced it had reached the milestone of 500 million users – about one in every 14 people on the planet, or 28% of those with Internet access. Here are some more world Internet usage numbers, for stats fans. Facebook is by far the largest social network in the world, and an ever-growing percentage of your ideal clients and customers are using it – so it makes sense to go where your market is and establish a presence for your business, ideally with a Facebook page.

Facebook are marking their dizzying new user number with a new application: Facebook Stories, a place for people to share their experiences of using Facebook. These can be browsed by theme – and one of the categories is Small Business.

So why not have a browse to get some ideas from those who have gone before; or, better yet, if you’re already using Facebook successfully to promote your business, add your own story to raise the profile of your business and share tips with others.

Meanwhile, perhaps we can all have a whip-round to give Mark Zuckerberg a bit of training in how to read an autocue..?
